Can PLA Degradable Straws Be Used Uncontrollably?

PLA degradable straws are biodegradable polylactic acid, which is a type of "biodegradable plastic". It is usually made from corn, cassava and other plants through microbial fermentation to obtain the original material, which is further processed and has good biodegradability. The advantages of PLA are waterproof, high strength, and degradable; when PLA material is used for composting, it can degrade about 90% within 180 days. And the experience difference between straws made of this material and plastic straws is not much, and it is almost a perfect substitute for plastic straws. Simply put, PLA biodegradable straws are both energy-saving, environmentally friendly and practical. And after use, it can be completely degraded by microorganisms in nature to generate carbon dioxide and water, which is particularly friendly to the natural environment.

Compared with paper straws, the public undoubtedly prefers biodegradable straws. Biodegradable material products also have many advantages: waterproof, high strength, and biodegradable; when PLA materials are used for composting, they can degrade about 90% within 180 days.

So some people here will ask if there is a biodegradable plastic straw, is it possible to use it uncontrollably without worrying about pollution?

In fact, it is not. The raw materials of degradable plastics are corn and other food crops, and uncontrolled use will cause food consumption. In addition, the safety factor of degradable plastic components is not higher than that of traditional plastics. Many degradable plastic bags are easy to break and are not strong. For this reason, some producers will add various additives, and these additives may have new effects on the natural environment.

In European and American countries, it can be classified as "compostable waste" or allowed to be put together with food waste under the condition of ensuring that there is the separate collection and composting at the back end. In the classification guidelines issued by most cities in my country, it is not recyclable.

However, our existing back-end processing mechanism has not been able to accurately identify, sort, or collect, transport, compost and degrade this product individually on a large scale. Therefore, some people believe that the promotion of biodegradable plastic products should not be carried out blindly, and should be carried out steadily and gradually, and it is also necessary to actively expand the construction of processing capacity.

The human environment is very fragile. It is everyone's consensus to minimize the use of plastic products and reduce environmental pollution. Pando promises that raw materials come from sustainable forest resources. From the production link to the final waste recycling, every link is committed to improving resource utilization and reducing carbon emissions.
